Previous Public Meetings
To facilitate communication and ensure input from agencies and the public, a Public Information Meeting was held on June 15, 2006. The Public Information Meeting presented the four alternatives studied, including the No-Build Alternative, and provided the public the opportunity to express views concerning the conceptual design and social, economic, and environmental effects of the proposed improvements.
A second Public Information Meeting was held on October 17, 2006. This meeting presented the preferred alternative and offered an additional opportunity for interested parties to provide comments concerning the project. In December 2006, a Frequently Asked Questions newsletter was distributed to interested parties.
This newsletter addressed many of the issues important to meeting attendees and those who commented on the project.
Design Phase Public Meetings
The design phase of this project includes two public information meetings.
The first meeting was held on November 17, 2008 at the Sickles High School. The meeting displays showed the 60% plans, typical sections, and a video about the project. More than 100 people attended this meeting, and nearly a quarter of them submitted written comments to the project team.
A second meeting will be held at the pre-construction phase, tentatively planned for early 2009. This meeting has not yet been scheduled, but once it is, you will be able to view the meeting announcements and other information on this website. Meetings will also be announced with signs placed at key locations in the project area.
Throughout the design phase, this website will be updated to provide accurate and timely information regarding the progress of the project and important issues.
Coordination During the Design Phase
Hillsborough County will continue coordination with state and local agencies throughout the design phase to ensure all the issues are addressed. All Hillsborough County Departments with an interest in the project have had opportunities to comment on the project.
Hillsborough County will also coordinate with representatives from the Homeowners Associations to receive their input and work with them on potential concerns.
